Summary:
AData Warehouse Architect serves to develop the data warehouse for internal andexternal use by the department that increase access, improve efficiency andaccuracy, and reduce overall cost. This employee will be experienced inhandling a wide variety of programming tasks and will need to be able to workindependently with little supervision. This person works together as partof a programming team to complete tasks with business analysts, projectmanagers, and the application owners.
Responsibilities:
Employeeworks in information technology under general supervision performingapplication development duties. Employee typically reports to the Directorof Application Development.
Representativeduties include:
· Develops,manages, and updates data models, including physical and logical models of thedata warehouse, data mart(s), development and staging areas, and source systems(as necessary) to meet new and changing business requirements and align to theneeds of the Indiana SLD system.
· Manageand oversee the target database schema design.
· Managethe deployment of solutions delivered by multiple teams in parallel.
· Workwith stakeholders/users to define the business and functional application;review and integrate all application requirements (including functional,security, integration, performance, quality, and operations requirements).
· Designs,develops and deploys data cubes for accessing warehouse data.
· Servesas Subject Matter Expert in data modeling concepts (star schema, snowflakeschemas, normalized & de-normalized data models).
· Coordinatesnew data development, ensuring consistency and integration with existing datawarehouse structure.
· Developsprocesses for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data warehousingcomponents; generate data dictionary from metadata for Indiana SLD project.
· Analyzesperformance statistics and recommends improvements.
· Responsiblefor database administration activities such as translate the logical databasedesign into a physically implementable design.
· Creatingthe databases and database objects from standards such as the tables, tablespaces, synonyms, views, stored procedures and indexes.
· Assiststo maintain reliable and quality of delivered systems, which includesproduction support and enhancements for current and future projectrequirements. Continues to work to stabilize the system and reduces error ratesin an effective and timely manner. Reviews and validates data loaded into thedata warehouse for accuracy.
· Providestechnical guidance and direction in defining the project/system levelinformation technology and data architecture strategy. Ensures consistent useof information architecture standards.
· Coordinatesand supports development efforts of technical and corporate staffs with SQLtuning efforts as well as ongoing application implementation, support andupgrades. Assists in resolution of complex application, database, applicationserver, network, and web server issues.
JobRequirements:
· Bachelor'sdegree in computer technology or four (4) years computer programmingexperience;
· Advancedknowledge of information systems design principles;
· Workingknowledge of new systems design techniques;
· Advancedknowledge of data warehousing techniques and tools;
· Advancedknowledge of policies, standards, procedures, and techniques used for datawarehouse development;
· Abilityto perform problem solving analytical analysis;
· Experiencewith all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC);
· Advancedknowledge of information technology equipment, operation, and capabilities;
· Workingknowledge of the most recent advancement of information technology equipment,operation capabilities;
· Havetechnical knowledge to design, build, and maintain routine and complex computerprograms;
· Abilityto communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
