Summary:
A Data Warehouse Architect serves to develop the datawarehouse for internal and external use by the department that increase access,improve efficiency and accuracy, and reduce overall cost. This employee will beexperienced in handling a wide variety of programming tasks and will need to beable to work independently with little supervision. This person workstogether as part of a programming team to complete tasks with businessanalysts, project managers, and the application owners.
Responsibilities:
Employee works in information technology under generalsupervision performing application development duties. Employee typicallyreports to the Director of Application Development.
Representative duties include:
· Develops, manages, and updates data models,including physical and logical models of the data warehouse, data mart(s),development and staging areas, and source systems (as necessary) to meet newand changing business requirements and align to the needs of the Indiana SLDsystem.
· Manage and oversee the target database schemadesign.
· Manage the deployment of solutions delivered bymultiple teams in parallel.
· Work with stakeholders/users to define thebusiness and functional application; review and integrate all applicationrequirements (including functional, security, integration, performance,quality, and operations requirements).
· Designs, develops and deploys data cubes foraccessing warehouse data.
· Serves as Subject Matter Expert in data modelingconcepts (star schema, snowflake schemas, normalized & de-normalized datamodels).
· Coordinates new data development, ensuringconsistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.
· Develops processes for capturing and maintainingmetadata from all data warehousing components; generate data dictionary frommetadata for Indiana SLD project.
· Analyzes performance statistics and recommendsimprovements.
· Responsible for database administrationactivities such as translate the logical database design into a physicallyimplementable design.
· Creating the databases and database objects fromstandards such as the tables, table spaces, synonyms, views, stored proceduresand indexes.
· Assists to maintain reliable and quality ofdelivered systems, which includes production support and enhancements forcurrent and future project requirements. Continues to work to stabilize thesystem and reduces error rates in an effective and timely manner. Reviews andvalidates data loaded into the data warehouse for accuracy.
· Provides technical guidance and direction indefining the project/system level information technology and data architecturestrategy. Ensures consistent use of information architecture standards.
· Coordinates and supports development efforts oftechnical and corporate staffs with SQL tuning efforts as well as ongoingapplication implementation, support and upgrades. Assists in resolution ofcomplex application, database, application server, network, and web serverissues.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in computer technology or four(4) years computer programming experience;
· Advanced knowledge of information systems designprinciples;
· Working knowledge of new systems designtechniques;
· Advanced knowledge of data warehousingtechniques and tools;
· Advanced knowledge of policies, standards,procedures, and techniques used for data warehouse development;
· Ability to perform problem solving analyticalanalysis;
· Experience with all phases of the softwaredevelopment life cycle (SDLC);
· Advanced knowledge of information technologyequipment, operation, and capabilities;
· Working knowledge of the most recent advancementof information technology equipment, operation capabilities;
· Have technical knowledge to design, build, andmaintain routine and complex computer programs;
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orallyand in writing;
